2015 Reading Review

In 2015, I read 53 books, a mix of fiction and non-fiction, short story collections and fairly thick tomes. As in years past the books covered a range of topics, though this year's list was heavy on psychology and technology. I tend to read more than one book at the same time because doing so allows writers on different topics to interact in my head in ways that would not otherwise happen.

This year I've posted my book list to Goodreads (instead of detailing the whole list). If you're interested in my notes on some of the better books, check out my account and see the "2015 Reading List". And as a summary, here are the 10 best books I read last year:

  1. Whisky: The Manual (Dave Broom)

  2. What Technology Wants (Kevin Kelly)

  3. Floating City (Sudhir Venkatesh)

  4. The Locust Effect (Gary Haugan)

  5. 1776 (David McCullough)

  6. Political Order and Political Decay (Francis Fukuyama)

  7. The Box (Marc Levinson)

  8. Capital in the 21st Century (Thomas Piketty)

  9. We Are Not Ourselves (Matthew Thomas)

  10. Submission: A Novel (Michel Houellebecq)
